Genealogy

Family one and two generations back

My parents were:
Ellen (Sargent) White and David White

The names of my grand parents were:
Kate (Arrigan) Sargent and Thomas Sargent,
and Ruth (Hurle) White and Isedore Bertram White
.

I have fairly detailed trees on my father's side, and conducted some research in Ireland on my mother's, but that requires further updating with a trip to Waterford in Ireland to put family trees together.

Family Trees now online

I have introduced four sub-trees on site in the first instance. They are trees from my father's side of the family. The trees are can be fully traversed by following the "hot-spots" in each tree. The hot-spot, typically, is a family member's name linking the sub-trees.

Try: White Tree or any of the family trees listed in the left column.

Individuals' Files

I am compiling a file for each individual member of the trees where possible. The format of the file Each individual family member may potentially be addressed through some or all of the four categories listed below:

  • Family Tree setting out individual's position in the family tree(s)
  • Birth, Marriage, Death Record (BMD) birth, marriage, death and children records(BMD)
  • Research Notes notes relating to searches in the records office and other sources. References to formal documents.
  • Biographical Notes biography, including photos, newspaper clippings, anecdotes ...

The genealogy section is in its early days. All the individuals listed in the left column are linked to give their position in the family tree, so all are addressed by the first category, but as yet have no further information in the other categories.

So far I have one prototype with some information in each category --- although by no means complete. So to get an idea of what I am hoping to present for more of those listed, have a look at the file of:
Wasser [White] Joseph

What's Next?

  • I have records of some trees going further back and coming forward on my father's side. to coordinate with the existing trees
  • Do more research so that I can draw up the family tree on my mother's side.
  • Fill in the individual profiles for the hot-spots and those for whom I have more material.

On My Mother's Side

In time, I will work on the trees for my mother's side which will necessarly start in Waterford City in Ireland.

I have more experience of my mother's side and therefore more information about my Irish grandparents including photographs in a real story gallery than I do for those on my father's side. I have written about them in `A real story --- not a Hollywood Film':

ireland: childhood summer holidays

chapter 4
ireland: returning at eighteen

And I will use and reference this material when I come to make up the individual files.
